NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is one of the most powerful tools ever made available. As developed by Bandler, Grinder et al, NLP has become what is probably the most comprehensive synthesis of modern psychological knowledge around today.
The name NLP breaks down into three distinct parts:
| Neuro |
Which covers what 'goes on' in both the brain and in the nervous system. This refers to the thinking patterns that make up the mental aspect of our strategies. |
| Linguistic |
Refers to the way in which we use words and how this affects our perceptions of, and relationship with, the external world. |
| Programming |
Is an interactive process, which allows us to make very precise choices about the way in which we think, feel and speak. The programs that we run are our strategies for getting results in all areas of life and work. |
NLP deals with things and issues the way they are as opposed to getting bogged down in what ought to be.
NLP offers a real, in-depth understanding of what really happens when we communicate, as well as the means to use that knowledge so as to maximise the effectiveness of any interpersonal transaction, be it negotiation, sales, and appraisal, a presentation, or whatever.
