NLP in Business

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is one of the most powerful tools ever made available to the business community. As developed by Bandler, Grinder et al, NLP has become what is probably the most comprehensive synthesis of modern psychological knowledge around today.

The name Neuro-Linguistic Programming breaks down into three distinct parts:

Neuro

This covers what 'goes on' in both the brain and in the nervous system. This refers to the thinking patterns that make up the mental aspect of our strategies.

Linguistic

Refers to the way in which we use words and how this affects our perceptions of, and relationship with, the external world.

Programming

Is an interactive process, which allows us to make very precise choices about the way in which we think, feel and speak. The programs that we run are our strategies for getting results in all areas of life and work.

NLP deals with issues the way they actually are, as opposed to getting bogged down in what we believe ‘ought’ to be.

NLP offers a real, in-depth understanding of what really happens when we communicate, as well as the means to use that knowledge so as to maximise the effectiveness of any interpersonal transaction, be it negotiation, sales, performance appraisals, presentations, or whatever.

In practical terms, NLP shows you how to become more successful in business by:

  • Learning to build and enhance relationships with new and existing business associates and colleagues, building the rapport with which to do effective business.

  • Effective goal setting, which leads to more focused activity.

  • Managing your mental activities, leading to greater self-control and more effective self-management.

  • Developing greater flexibility with the way that you respond to your environment, leading to more appropriate responses to the ever-changing demands of your business.
